Indian Fabrics- Our rich cultural heritage

I am fortunate enough to visit Bali twice and experience the rich culture and handicrafts there. When you visit Bali all you talk about is the beaches, the villas, the water sports. I did all this the last time I visited, so this visit has to be something different. I wanted to explore the other part, the richness they follow, their handicrafts took my heart. They were so beautiful and attention-grabbing. Bali follows a deep historical background. It is also known as the land of temples.
It was amusing to know Bali is in the name of Bajrang Bali. People follow Hinduism here and that is seen in their handicrafts roots.
I realized India is a hub and we never try to appreciate or explore what it has to offer.  I never thought to experience what our country has to offer us in its rich culture tradition. As I always loved fashion I thought to check the best hand weaves, silks the country has to offer from different parts of the country.

Patan Patola
Patan patola is one such Indian weave which has left me enthralled. I was in awe when I learned about the history and importance it carries .Patola is weaved in a village called patan in Gujrat and so the name Patan Patola .  It is one such saree which every girl should have in her wardrobe. Now getting a real patola saree is very expensive. The range starts from Rs. 200000 onwards and gets up to Rs. 600000 and beyond . A saree of patola takes about a year to complete with 5-6 workmen occupied for 8-10 hours a day. There are only two families in patan who are carrying on the legacy.
